Hyundai/Kia Fuel Line Air Removal
Supported coding features by HiCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/hicom
What it does
- This function is to protect the High Pressure Fuel Pump and minimize the engine starting time by removing the fuel line air after assembling the vehicle. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank will run for 30 seconds.
- Removes trapped air from the fuel lines and rail
- Ensures proper fuel delivery and pressure
- Prevents rough idling, hesitation, and starting issues
When it is required
- After fuel system repairs or component replacement:
- Fuel filter
- Fuel pump
- Fuel pressure regulator
- After bleeding the fuel system
- When air is suspected in fuel lines
Conditions that must be met
- Fuel system components properly installed
- Fuel tank filled to sufficient level
- Ignition ON, engine OFF (or as instructed)
- Stable battery voltage
- No leaks in the fuel system
What happens during the procedure
- ECU activates fuel pump and pressure regulator
- Fuel is circulated to purge air
- System monitors pressure and injector feedback
- Air is expelled through fuel return or bleeder points
If procedure is not performed
- Engine may fail to start
- Rough idle or hesitation may occur
- Fuel pressure may be inconsistent
- Potential engine damage from lean conditions
After air removal
- Verify fuel pressure in live data
- Start engine and confirm smooth idle
- Perform a short test drive under load
- Check for absence of fuel-related warning codes
