Headlamp Levelling System Initialisation
What it does
- Initializes and calibrates the automatic headlamp levelling system
- Sets reference (zero) positions for headlamp motors
- Ensures correct beam height according to vehicle load
When it is required
- After headlamp or levelling motor replacement
- After suspension or ride height sensor repairs
- After body control module or headlamp control unit replacement
- When headlamp levelling warning or incorrect beam height occurs
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle on level ground
- Correct tire pressure
- Vehicle unloaded (normal curb weight)
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
What happens during initialisation
- Headlamp motors move through full adjustment range
- Reference and end positions are learned
- Control unit stores calibrated levelling values
- System performs plausibility checks
If initialisation is not performed
- Incorrect headlamp beam height
- Reduced road visibility or glare to oncoming traffic
- Possible fault codes or warning messages
After initialisation
- Verify beam height visually or with headlamp tester
- Clear any related fault codes
- Test automatic levelling during startup
- Confirm normal headlamp operation
