Cruise Control / Speed Limiter Coding
What it does
- Codes and activates cruise control and speed limiter functions
- Enables communication between steering wheel controls, ECU, and instrument cluster
- Allows correct operation of cruise control and speed limiter systems
When it is required
- After retrofitting cruise control or speed limiter
- After steering wheel switch replacement
- After ECU or instrument cluster replacement
- When cruise control or speed limiter functions are not available
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
- Required hardware (switches, pedals, sensors) installed
What happens during coding
- Cruise control and speed limiter functions are enabled in ECU
- Control unit configuration is updated
- Steering wheel or stalk input is validated
- Fault codes related to coding are cleared
If coding is not performed
- Cruise control or speed limiter will not function
- System may be invisible in instrument cluster
- Fault codes or warnings may remain
After coding
- Verify cruise control and speed limiter menus in instrument cluster
- Perform functional test while driving
- Check brake and clutch pedal signal recognition
- Clear any remaining fault codes
