What it does
- Teaches and calibrates the steering column lock (SCL) mechanism
- Ensures proper locking and unlocking of the steering column

When it is required

Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Ignition OFF (unless specified differently by manufacturer)
- Vehicle secured against rolling
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
- No mechanical obstruction in steering column
What happens during teaching
- Steering lock moves through full locking/unlocking cycles
- Control unit learns reference positions
- Synchronization with ignition and key system is verified
- Fault codes cleared if present
If teaching is not performed
- Steering may not lock or unlock properly
- Security warning lights may remain active
- Vehicle immobilizer may not function correctly
- Potential safety risk
After teaching
- Test locking and unlocking of steering column
- Verify SCL status in live data
- Clear any remaining fault codes
- Confirm proper interaction with ignition and immobilizer system
