Gear Position Sensor Adaptation (DL501)
What it does
- Adapts the gearshift position sensor in the 7-speed DL501 gearbox
- Synchronizes actual gear positions with the transmission control unit (TCU)
- Ensures correct gear recognition and safe shifting logic
Used for
- Automatic and dual-clutch gear selection accuracy
- Correct display of gear positions
- Proper gearbox protection and shift quality
When it is required
- After gearbox or gear position sensor replacement
- After TCU replacement or software update
- When incorrect gear display or shifting issues occur
- After transmission repair work
Preconditions
- Parking brake engaged
- Engine not running
- Shift selector lever in position P
- Transmission oil temperature between 20°C and 60°C
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
What happens during adaptation
- TCU detects and stores reference positions for all gears
- Gear selector sensor values are synchronized
- Plausibility checks are performed
- Adaptation values are saved
If adaptation is not performed
- Incorrect gear indication
- Shifting errors or refusal to engage gears
- Warning messages or fault codes
- Reduced drivability
After adaptation
- Verify gear positions in live data
- Start engine and test gear engagement
- Perform short test drive
- Confirm no transmission-related fault codes remain
