Service reset is usually performed in BSI control unit ("Coding" function in PSA-COM).
What it does
- Resets the service interval and maintenance indicators in the vehicle
- Updates the system after oil change, inspection, or scheduled maintenance
- Ensures correct display of next service due
When it is required
- After completing scheduled maintenance or oil change
- After replacing maintenance-related components (oil filter, engine oil, etc.)
- When service warning light is illuminated
- After ECU or BSI replacement affecting service counters
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected (if required)
- Completed service or maintenance work
What happens during reset
- Service counters and timers are cleared or updated
- BSI and instrument cluster indicators synchronized
- Next service interval calculated based on mileage or time
- Warning lights reset
If reset is not performed
- Service or oil change warnings may remain active
- Incorrect display of next maintenance interval
- Confusion during routine inspections
After reset
- Verify service indicators in instrument cluster
- Confirm correct mileage and date for next service
- Test that service warning lights are cleared
- Ensure system retains settings after ignition off/on
