What it does
- Programs the neutral position of the gearbox or gear selector
- Ensures correct gear recognition by the ECU or TCU

When it is required
- After gearbox or gear selector replacement

- After clutch replacement or major drivetrain repair

Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary on level ground
- Parking brake applied
- Gear selector in neutral
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
What happens during programming
- ECU or TCU detects current gear selector position
- Neutral position is stored as reference
- Gear recognition and safety interlocks updated
If programming is not performed
- Incorrect gear indication
- Gearbox may not shift properly
- Safety interlocks may malfunction
- Fault codes may remain active
After programming
- Verify gear positions in live data
