What it does
- Removes air from the ABS hydraulic circuits
- Ensures proper brake pressure and ABS functionality
- Restores consistent brake pedal feel and response
When it is required
- After brake fluid replacement
- After ABS hydraulic unit or brake line repair
- After caliper or master cylinder replacement
- When spongy brake pedal or ABS faults are present
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Ignition ON, engine OFF
- Brake fluid reservoir filled to correct level
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
What happens during bleeding
- ABS pump and valves cycle to purge air from circuits
- Brake pressure is monitored by ECU
- Pedal feel and hydraulic integrity are restored
If bleeding is not performed
- Spongy or soft brake pedal
- ABS may malfunction
- Fault codes or warning lights may remain
- Reduced braking efficiency and safety
After bleeding
- Verify proper brake pedal feel
- Check ABS system status in live data
- Confirm no warning lights remain
- Test drive carefully to ensure normal braking
