Mercedes CDI Injector Coding
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
What it does
- Programs individual injector correction codes into the ECU
- Allows precise fuel quantity control for each cylinder
- Optimizes combustion, emissions, and engine smoothness
When it is required
- After replacing one or more injectors
- After engine control unit replacement
- When injector-related fault codes are present
- When engine runs rough or has imbalance
Conditions that must be met
- New injectors installed correctly
- Injector codes (IMA / QR codes) available
- No fuel system leaks
- Ignition ON, engine OFF
- Stable battery voltage
What happens during coding
- ECU stores injector-specific calibration values
- Injection timing and quantity are adapted for:
- Each cylinder
- Engine load
- Emission control
If coding is not performed
- Rough idle or misfire
- Increased fuel consumption
- Higher emissions
- Possible engine damage over time
After coding
- Verify injector data in diagnostics
- Start engine and check smooth running
- Perform a short test drive
- Confirm no injector-related fault codes remain
