Renault Nissan Underhood Switching Module
Supported coding features by RenCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/rencom
Underhood Switching Module (UHSM)
What it does
- Controls electrical loads in the engine bay (fans, relays, pumps, etc.)
- Manages power distribution and load protection
- Coordinates signals between engine, body, and safety systems
When it is required
- After UHSM replacement
- After major electrical repairs in the engine bay
- When fault codes or malfunctions occur in controlled circuits
- After software updates affecting UHSM operation
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary
- Ignition ON (or OFF if specified by diagnostic tool)
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
- No unresolved critical fault codes in power distribution circuits
What happens during initialization or coding
- UHSM control unit is recognized by the vehicle network
- Electrical load circuits are tested and synchronized
- Fault codes related to replacement are cleared
- System communicates properly with engine, BCM, and other control units
If initialization or coding is not performed
- Electrical loads may not operate correctly
- Fault codes or warning lights may remain
- Potential safety or drivability issues
After procedure
- Verify operation of all circuits controlled by UHSM
- Check live data for correct load status
- Clear any remaining fault codes
- Perform a short system test to confirm correct operation
