Peugeot/Citroen Parking Brake Calibration
Supported coding features by PSACOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/psacom
What it does
- Calibrates the parking brake system (mechanical or electronic)
- Ensures correct brake force and lever/pedal travel
- Synchronizes the electronic parking brake (EPB) control unit with the mechanical system
When it is required
- After replacing parking brake components (cables, calipers, EPB motor)
- After brake system maintenance affecting parking brake
- When EPB warning lights or errors appear
- After battery disconnection or EPB control unit replacement
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary on level ground
- Parking brake released
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected (for EPB systems)
- No active critical brake fault codes
What happens during calibration
- EPB control unit measures cable tension and actuator travel
- Stores reference positions for brake engagement and release
- Adjusts mechanical and electronic system for proper handbrake force
- Confirms brake system operates within specification
If calibration is not performed
- Handbrake may be too loose or too tight
- Warning lights or fault codes may remain
- Reduced parking safety
- EPB may not engage or release correctly
After calibration
- Test parking brake operation
- Verify EPB live data for correct actuator positions (if applicable)
- Confirm warning lights are cleared
- Check lever/pedal feel and vehicle holding on slopes
