Gearbox Initialise Autoadaptives
What it does
- Resets self-adaptive (learned) gearbox parameters
- Clears stored shift, pressure, and clutch adaptations
- Returns gearbox control to factory baseline values
When it is required
- After gearbox repair or replacement
- After gearbox control unit (TCU) replacement
- After clutch replacement (robotized or automatic gearboxes)
- When gear shifting is harsh, delayed, or inconsistent
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary on level ground
- Gear selector in neutral or park (as required)
- Ignition ON
- Stable battery voltage
- Diagnostic tool connected
- No active critical gearbox fault codes
What happens during initialization
- ECU deletes learned adaptation values for:
- Shift timing
- Hydraulic pressure
- Clutch engagement (if applicable)
- Gearbox control returns to default settings
- System prepares for relearning during driving
If initialization is not performed
- Gear shifts may remain rough or incorrect
- Clutch may slip or engage harshly
- Reduced gearbox comfort and durability
- Fault codes may persist
After initialization
- Perform gearbox relearning drive cycle
- Monitor shift quality in live data
- Verify correct gear engagement in all modes
- Clear any related fault codes
