Mercedes Dynamometer Mode
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
What it does
- Puts the vehicle into dynamometer (chassis dyno) mode
- Adjusts engine, transmission, and braking systems for controlled testing
- Disables certain safety and traction interventions for accurate measurement
When it is required
- During performance testing on a chassis dynamometer
- For emission or power measurement under controlled conditions
- When measuring torque, horsepower, or fuel consumption
Conditions that must be met
- Vehicle stationary on dyno rollers
- Wheels properly aligned and secured
- Ignition ON, engine OFF (or as instructed)
- Stable battery voltage
- No active critical fault codes
What happens during the procedure
- ECU limits traction control and ESP interventions
- Engine and transmission adapt to dyno load conditions
- Data logging and measurement parameters are enabled:
- RPM
- Torque
- Power
- Fuel consumption
If mode is not activated
- ABS/ESP may interfere with dyno readings
- Torque and power measurements may be inaccurate
- Vehicle may behave unexpectedly during testing
After using dynamometer mode
- Exit dyno mode via diagnostics
- Return ESP/ABS to normal operation
- Verify engine and transmission function
- Clear any temporary dyno-related codes
