Mercedes Check Flap Adjustment Range
Supported coding features by StarCOM diagnostic tool https://www.obdtester.com/starcom
1) Flap Adjustment Range Check
What it does
- Measures and verifies the adjustment range of engine flaps (e.g., intake manifold, EGR, swirl flaps)
- Ensures correct flap movement and position detection
- Prevents engine performance and emission issues
When it is required
- After replacing or cleaning engine flaps
- After flap actuator replacement
- When fault codes indicate incorrect flap position
- After cylinder head or intake manifold work affecting flaps
Conditions that must be met
- Flap actuators properly installed and connected
- Ignition ON, engine OFF (unless instructed)
- No active engine fault codes that prevent calibration
- Stable battery voltage
What happens during the procedure
- ECU moves each flap through full range
- Measures end positions and range of motion
- Stores reference values for:
- Idle control
- Airflow measurement
- Emission optimization
If check is not performed
- Flaps may stick or operate incorrectly
- Fault codes may remain active
- Reduced engine performance and increased emissions
After check
- Verify flap positions in live data
- Start engine and check smooth idle
- Perform a short test drive
- Confirm no flap-related warnings remain
