What it does
- Resets and recalibrates the Weight Classification System (WCS) in the passenger seat
- Ensures correct detection of occupant weight for airbag deployment
- Restores proper airbag and safety restraint logic
When it is required
- After replacing the passenger seat or WCS sensor
- After repairs affecting seat sensors or wiring
- When WCS-related fault codes or warning lights are active
- After performing a PODS reset or system maintenance
Conditions that must be met
- Seat properly installed and secured
- Seat sensor mat connected correctly
- Vehicle on level ground
- Ignition ON, engine OFF
- Stable battery voltage
- No active airbag fault codes
What happens during the reset
- ECU clears old WCS adaptation values
- Baseline weight sensor readings are stored
- System verifies proper sensor operation and calibration
If reset is not performed
- Incorrect passenger airbag deployment
- Fault codes or warning lights remain active
- Reduced occupant safety
After reset
- Verify WCS status in live data
- Confirm proper airbag indicator behavior
- Perform a short test drive if recommended
- Ensure no WCS-related warnings remain
