Swirl Control Valve Replacement
What it does
- Resets ECU adaptation for the swirl control valve (intake air swirl system)
- Ensures correct air flow control inside the intake manifold
- Optimizes combustion, torque and emissions
When it is required
- After replacing the swirl control valve or actuator
- After intake manifold repair or replacement
- When swirl-related fault codes are present
- When engine has poor low-RPM torque or increased emissions
Conditions that must be met
- New swirl valve or actuator correctly installed
- Intake system sealed and leak-free
- No active swirl or intake air fault codes
- Ignition ON, engine OFF (unless instructed)
- Stable battery voltage
What happens during the procedure
- ECU clears old swirl adaptation values
- Actuator moves through full range
- End positions are learned and stored
- System calibrates:
- Valve position
- Motor load
- Airflow response
If procedure is not performed
- Incorrect swirl valve operation
- Reduced low-speed torque
- Increased fuel consumption
- Fault codes may return
After replacement
- Verify swirl valve position in live data
- Start engine and check idle quality
- Perform a short test drive
- Confirm no swirl-related fault codes remain
