Nissan DDL Diagnostics

DDL = Diagnostics Data Link. Protocol used on pre-2005 Nissan vehicles. Supported by RenCOM, some vehicles may require manual wire connection to OBD2 or Nissan Consult 14pin connector.

OBD2 vehicles with DDL ECUs have connected pins 12 and 13in OBD-II.

  • Nissan Terrano 2000 (OBD-II) - no special requirements (ABS, Airbag)
  • Nissan Micra K11 (from 07/2000 OBD-II) - no special requirements (Airbag)
  • Nissan Micra K11 (to 07/2000 Nissan Consult 14pin) - +12/GND and DDL TX/RX/CLK connection required (All ECUs)

If DDL diagnosis on cars with OBD2 socket does not work, try the following connection:

  1. connect pin 15 in RenCOM interface to pin 14 in OBD-II. Pins 4,5,7,12,13,16 are 1:1, the rest is not connected
  2. connect pin 15 in RenCOM interface to pin 9 in OBD-II. Pins 4,5,7,12,13,16 are 1:1, the rest is not connected

(No adapter is available at this moment to simplify the connection)

DDL diagnostics is not available in auto-scan function because it requires user interaction to work properly.
